Darnhill site is part of Brownhill Learning Community, providing educational provision for primary aged pupils from across Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton and secondary PRS provision for permanently excluded KS3 and KS4 pupils from the Heywood and Middleton boroughs.
We aim to enable all our pupils to flourish and grow in all aspects of their development, so that they are all equipped with the competence and confidence to engage fully and enjoy life, providing a welcoming and safe environment for all children, we allow every student to learn in a caring, supportive and enriching environment.
We establish strong partnerships with families and local schools and work in close collaboration with a range of external agencies.
All pupils study a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum. Timetables include the following subjects: English, Maths, Science, PSHE, IT, Humanities, Art, PE and Cooking. Pupils also participate in the school's Social and Communication curriculum which aims to develop social skills and communication skills, completing activities both on and off-site in small groups.
We have high expectations of each individual pupil whatever their prior attainment. Pupils in Key Stage 4 undertake a range of examinations and accreditations from entry level to GCSE, this includes vocational courses which are delivered both on site and by external providers.
Sgt Hartley-Pickles and members of the Heywood Neighbourhood Policing Team attended our Darnhill site accompanied by Paul McGovern for an 'ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES' input.
