The Role of the SENCO

• The day-to-d​ay responsibility for the operation of the SEN policy.

• Co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN, including pupils who have EHC plans.

• Provide professional guidance to colleagues to ensure pupils with SEN receive high quality teaching.

• Working closely with staff, parents and other agencies (for example HYM, speech and language and educational psychology) to secure appropriate support and positive outcomes for pupils with SEN.

• Advise on / support with transition to and from the BLC

• Complete EHC needs assessments and hold annual reviews.

• Determine the strategic development of SEN policy and provision in the school.
